A Message from Fr. Jason Stone
This weekend, as the new academic year begins, we celebrate Catechetical Sunday. We will be praying in a particular way for our students enrolled in Religious Education and our teachers and staff who will be their Catechists. Often we think of Religious Education only in terms of preparation to receive a Sacrament. However, the word catechesis reminds us that there is something deeper going on than preparation for a sacramental celebration.
Catechesis is from the Greek work that means “to echo.” Our Catechists are entrusted with echoing the teaching of Jesus and his Church that has reverberated through the generations into our present day parish. God bless them for their generosity in doing so!
The task of Catechesis is not just a role reserved to those who teach in Religious Education. It is a sacred obligation for each and every one of us who ever heard the truth about Jesus in catechesis classes. It does not matter if you attended Catholic School, Faith Formation, Religious Education, RCIA or CCD, you are now a member of the chain tasked with echoing the Word to anyone who does not know Jesus. If the message has echoed for two thousand years to reach us, we certainly do not want to be the generation who neglect to pass it on for generations to come.
Let us pray that God would help us to echo the Word!
Loving Father, we pray today for our catechists. We thank you for their gift of ministry in your Church.
Grant them your wisdom that they may grow in the understanding and teaching of your Word. Grant them also your love that they may be fruitful heralds of your Word and lead others to love you.
Pour forth your Holy Spirit upon them to grant them wisdom about what is important; knowledge of the truths of faith; understanding of their meaning; right judgement about how to apply them in life; courage to persevere even in the face of adversity; reverence before all that is sacred and holy; and that loving zeal which leads others to a transforming encounter with your Son.
Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

A Gentle Reminder for Eucharistic Adoration
Thank you to everyone who spends time with Our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration.
As a loving reminder, the Blessed Sacrament should never be left unattended while exposed. If you find that you are the only person in the church, please remain until someone else arrives before leaving. If you need to leave prior to someone else arriving, please call the Parish Office at 815-942-0620.
To help ensure that every hour is covered, we kindly ask everyone to sign up for an hour using the SignUpGenius links for the dates listed below. Even if you regularly attend the same hour each week, signing up lets us know each hour has someone committed to being present with Our Lord.
Your prayerful presence is a beautiful expression of love and reverence for the Real Presence of Christ. Thank you for helping us ensure that Jesus is never left alone during Exposition.
In Eucharistic Adoration, heaven touches earth. As you sit before Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, He is not just watching you—He is loving you, healing you, strengthening you, and transforming your heart. Unplug from the noise. Step away from the distractions. Sit in the presence of Jesus and allow His peace to speak louder than the world. You don't need perfect words; just be with Him. In the silence, He reminds you who you are and whose you are. "Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
Wed. Sept 23, will be a shortened due to school Mass at 9:30am
